Farming God's Way

What is "Farming God's way"?

Farming God's Way was a two and a half day seminar facilitated by a trained Kenyan native on how to sustainably grow food crops for personal consumption or profit while proclaiming the gospel. They teach proven techniques, that when followed, have achieved amazing results in neighboring Kenyan farms, and other African communities. 60 members of our community participated in this seminar.

Benefit to the Pokot Community

60 members of our community were taught life-long skills that could help them. Food insecurity is highly prevalent in this area of Kenya due to drought, floods, insects, disease. The techniques they were taught were available, affordable, proven, common sense; success without using heavy equipment, mulching, biodiversity, crop rotation, proper fertilization, proper seed placement. Using what they were taught could increase their yields, protect their soils, feed their families, and possibly help feed their communities.

"Farming God's way" to spread the Good news!

Farming God's Way is based on scripture and founded on biblical principles. Prayer, worship, singing, and testimony were continually woven throughout the teachings. Scripture was used to back up and support the methods being taught. The group prayed over the soil once they got out to the demonstration plot, which you can see below. The group sang, worshiped, and prayed together over the shamba (garden) once it was planted.

Our hope and prayer

We pray the excitement and enthusiasm generated at this seminar results in life changing agricultural practices that will lessen food insecurity in the area and individual spiritual changes that will glorify God.
