Relief Food

Relief Food distribution is every Thursday of the month. Usually, that means four days a month. We grind our own maze flour in our posho mill. We feed 300 + recipients who are elderly, disabled, or in situations in which they cannot provide income for their families. We have hundreds of families on our waiting list for Relief Food. During a drought we distribute up to 1000 families a week.

A Weeks Worth of Food

Each recipient family receives 4kgs of maize flour, a packet of salt, a packet of cooking fat, and half a loaf of fresh baked bread.

Evangelism

When we distribute Relief Food we have at least one pastor present to share a devotion and pray with recipients as they move through the line. This gives people the opportunity to share prayer requests and give thanks to God for His provision. We recognize how deeply the need for physical sustenance is tied to the need for spiritual sustenance.

Maize Flour

Now that our Posho Mill is up and running we grind our own corn and measure the 4kg of flour right into their bag.  This saves money for the relief food program.

Relief Food Day

Everyone brings their own bag to receive the maize flour and other items.

Cost

It costs approximately $3 to feed 1 family for a week. $25 feeds 2 families for a month. That's less than what a lot of people spend on coffee.
